Luis Vivanco
Luis Rafael Vivanco has been teaching classic and flamenco guitar in Chicago for over 15 years. He was first asked to teach by Jim Sherry, the Spanish guitar importer and Guitarra Magazine editor who collaborated with icons such as Andres Segovia and Christopher Parkening, with whom he worked for over 10 years. Luis Rafael has taught kids and adults at academic institutions like the Cervantes Institute and the Chicago Grammar School, among others. He has been organizing student guitar recitals for many years, and develops personalized lesson plans for students of all levels which include technique, music theory, practice routine, stage presence, and playing in ensemble. Luis Rafael has a Masters degree in guitar performance from Roosevelt University. He has performed in music festivals, to name but a few: the Chicago Latino Music Festival, the Chicago Flamenco Festival, the Chicago Latin American Guitar Festival, and has given masterclasses at Lima's Conservatory in Peru, and the Milwaukee International Guitar Festival. |
